My friend said I should blog about my day yesterday, so I will! (there may be a bit of TMI)
Sunday's have been our date mornings since we got married. I had read that a great way to keep your relationship solid is by having a date every week, so we do. Now that we have the baby we bring him along (although, we do plan to leave him with someone as he gets older). So we got up at 7am as usual, fed the baby, and Greg got in the shower. I remembered that I had put sunscreen on the baby the day before and hadn't washed it off yet (not used using it on him yet, only the second time). So I figured a bath would take a lot of extra time, so I stripped him down, and myself, and we jumped in the shower with Greg! Baby had never been in the shower before! He wasn't too happy at first, he just clung to me like a koala, lol. then Greg took him and he started to feel a bit better about the water on his head. I washed up him, rinsed him off and Greg got out with him. They sat wrapped in towels on the couch. I finished up, got dressed and dressed the baby. We packed up and were out of the house in no time!
Since the Cafe Siren was closed we headed out to Shelburn Falls to a lovely little cafe called Mocha Maya's. But they didn't serve food so we went next door and had breakfast (after a 25 minute wait where I fed the baby his oatmeal and pears, his favorite!). We figured that since it was such a nice day, why not walk around for a bit? The Bridge of Flowers was across the street, so we got the stroller out and headed over. The flowers were amazing! I'd never been while they were in bloom before, so I was really impressed. There were a couple that I'd love to plant in my yard, the fragrance and the colors were just extraordinary.
We discussed driving by Bill Cosby's house, but Greg didn't know where it was and we couldn't find it on Google maps so we headed home. Greg came up with a game of counting the red maples (I won!). We stopped by Home Depot to pick up a few things he needed for the upstairs project and I found some awesome storage bins by Martha Stewart. Greg said he had plenty or wood at home and that we could make one that would fit in our mudroom perfectly. I grabbed 2 Tiffany blue canvas baskets and 2 chocolatey brown ones and we were off (after I stopped to look at some orchids that were too expensive).
The baby fell asleep in the car so we opened the hatch and got to work in the garage. In the 2 hours that the baby slept in the car we managed to build a storage compartment that would hold 3 of the baskets (I think I'll use one of the brown ones in the baby's room later) and have space underneath for a couple pairs of shoes. All that's left is to sand and paint it, but we couldn't do it with the wet wood glue. (I still can't believe we built it! and saved so much money, lol.)
We came in the house, I fed baby and Greg cleaned up from our project. While I played with the baby (who was super fussy) Greg cleaned up the house from the bon fire the previous night. He did such a wonderful job, and I'm so revealed to not have to do it all today. As the baby went down for his evening nap, I filled the tub up with hot, steamy water for a relaxing bath (btw, I need a new book... any suggestions?). My brother Al showed up to borrow some movies, so I thought "ok, bath's cut short, but at least I got one." By the time I got out he had left and the baby was awake. More baby feeding, more Greg cleaning, and then Greg made me dinner! (Left over hot dogs, but still! It was the thought.)
I had a really great day!
